  1. Heading over to Bear Claw’s place with a case right now. Anyone else want to join us for dinner ?

  2. squirrel not bad at all. of course it depends on who is cooking it.
but on a spit with some pepper and garlic powder it tastes good.
simple trick I learned from my uncle, prop a branch up against a tree at a 45 angle and set your snares up on it, for some reason they will just run up the damn thing
got 4 one day doing that a long time ago in NC
between squirrels and small mouth bass I think I was the only one to gain weight during the E&E training

    • I gained weight on e&e in the Florida Everglades. Went straight to my aunt’s house and she piled on the fried chikin, gravy and grits.

  3. Better than crickets and worms; at least it is real meat, and not bad if prepared right.

    • true, that is why you need to get at least a couple of them to get by
I was lucky as it was late season and there was a corn field nearby
squirrels get fat on the leftover corn and are easy to trap.

      • Skinning those little bastards burns almost as many calories as you get from eating them. ;-))

        • Ah… the voice of experience….

did that once in my youth with a deadfall, to be sure I knew how… way too much work, gave it to a starving dog (puppy really) that had followed me 10m into the desert from the Res (his paws were raw too).

  4. Squirrel is good eats if properly cooked. Certainly better than boiled peanuts, sea duck or wild turkey. YMMV

  5. The head of the ‘targets’ security detail will be on my menu before I eat bugs anything I find in the boss’s fridge goes to me and the boys!
    DIAGALON!

  6. Squirrel would be better than the mystery meat that put in that stuff along with salt, fat, salt, nitrates, salt and other chemicals. Better than nothing if your starving, if you can past the smell and the taste.
