Hell yeah. There is no reason in the world not to require a proper ID. The worn out excuse of it being too onerous to get a state issued ID is bullshit. If you could register to vote, or get EBT, you can get the fucking ID. The only reason the left continues to pursue the allowance for voting without an ID requirement is to facilitate large scale fraud, by having non-citizens or others not legally eligible getting access to the vote. Enough of that noise.
Our voting system is a giant joke, but then so too is the entire system that produces the candidates we get to vote for. So, while the ID requirement may cut down on the fraudulent votes cast, it still does nothing to fix how fucked up our government is, because we are only ever given rancid dogshit to cast ballots for., and that’s who gets to run the government. The two existing parties, and all the advantages they’ve legislated for themselves (to the detriment of any challengers) needs to be broken. But that’s just another inherent defect in the system that will go unaddressed.

Valid ID is required to board a plane or train, to cash a check, or apply for a loan. It is required to rent a car, a hotel room, or to get a library card. Never an issue to show ID when applying for SNAP benefits, or government assistance, no issue to show ID to buy alcohol, or weed at the dispensary, but it’s a racist plot to disenfranchise and deprive folks of their right to vote by asking them to provide proof of identity.
If I have to show an ID and fill out paperwork to exercise my Second Amendment rights, you can damn well show one to vote.

It’s a major blow to the cheat and fraud that the Democrats run EVERY damn election. Hell yeah, I’m for it.
A few years ago, someone did a video where they went into a black neighborhood and asked things like, “do you know where I could get a driver’s license?” and all the crap you hear about these people not having any gubmint ID so asking for ID to vote was racist. Everyone they showed could give them directions to the office they were asking about. Everyone thought saying these things was bullshit.
As others above have written, there’s not much in society these days that you are NOT required to have ID for. So, yes, voting should require ID.
My state passed a voter ID law back in the beginning of last decade. The law was updated in 2023 because the original allowed a whole bunch of exceptions, like signing an affidavit that you are a newly arrived legal resident using an out of state ID. Of course that was being blatantly abused. Last year, when I voted in the Presidential, the line for the affidavit was up a 50 foot hallway, out the door and half way around the school building and this was at 8:30 in the morning. ALL of the people in that line were under 30 by my estimation and there were lots of cars with out of state plates in the parking lot.
They finally wised up and changed that portion of the law. Now you have to register at least a week before voting day. No more same day registration.
The other good news in that sector is the Dominion voting machine company was recently sold to a Republican. So now maybe the cheat will go in conservatives favor. Kidding of course. At least now the machine process will be more honest and transparent, I hope.
