my dad always said it was better to think about something like that AFTER you did something stupid. funny thing is always after something like that I end up shaking like a damn leaf. and he should know, the old man had a navy cross for valor.
as he often said about it, doing something real stupid and not thinking about what might happen. he was buried at Arlington with full honors and they even put mom up in the Wainwright house. funny story, at the service, one of the naval commanders, there where two of them there.
asked me why no navy guys in the family. I told him dad always called it the fucking navy ! he had a good laugh and said with all the medals my dad had
he had the right to call it whatever he wanted to. both brothers in law showed up in army uniform as did my one brother. I wore a suit instead. (didn’t know where my uniform was even was at the time ) my mom is there too now.
Yup!
Amen
These words are so practical. I used to not know if I would be going home at the end of the day. I would pray while jerking and slamming levers on Link-Belt cranes asking God to please keep me out of the powerlines. Don’t let the outrigger cribbage give way. Keep my friends safe. Old cliche- there are no atheist in foxhole. Well… He must have listened.
You guys that run those cranes have my admiration, that’s NOT an easy job and concentration is vital if you don’t want to screw the pooch! Unsung heroes in my book.
