Wife was the worst, sometimes I would walk through the house and turn them all on for effect.
Lights? I wish it was only lights. I often have to turn off ceiling lights, ceiling fans, table lamps, box fans, the oven light, the bathroom lights, and decorative lights. Occasionally I have to lock the front door? Sometimes I have to actually close the door to the garage and the garage door.
I still do , and get a large part of my daily exercise following my wife around and shutting off the lights after her
I put electronic timers on the bathroom fans since everybody’s arms appear to be broken.

One time I unhooked a wire and told her she burned it up leaving it on
Guilty. Grew up with the heat kept at 55. If we complained about being cold, my Dad would just say “put a sweater on”.
I’m training the Grandkids to be cheap bastards.
“What, do you think we own the Edison company?”
That’s what I heard growing up. My SO apparently never heard that…
Igor, you might be on to something with those timers.
A bathroom fan will suck all of that lovely heat out of your home more than a 100-watt light bulb left on will.

On another note of electricity costs, the town I live has two water powered generating stations. They used to sell the power to the local electric supplier. Last year the town established an electric coop comprised of all of the the town residents which took effect two months ago. My electric bill is almost back to where it was before Bribem instead of being 3X what it was under Bribem.
I do leave a light burning all day over the kitchen stove. I switched out all of the incandescents in all of my light fixtures 20 years ago when mini florescents became widely available.
