Who among Phil’s Flock of Tool Nerds and gourmet cooks?

I have turned this handle so many revolutions I surpassed going to the moon… And what did you turn with it?

    • My mom used it for that and pickles and celery and orange peel and radishes too…

  1. Ham salad from blocks of left over Easter ham.
Plus mayo and sweet pickle relish…

  2. Meat grinder. We lived at the top of the Chesapeake bay so we used it for clams and clam soup.

      • Same. Darn thing is like a tank, they just NEVER wear out! The newer ones are crap.

        Mmmmmmm, deer hamburger!!

        • Ditto – tamale pork / chicken / beef fillings. A lot of work but the result was worth it.

  3. Still use it every summer. Grinds up cukes and peppers for relish, grinds up chicken for chicken salad. Love me my turny-crankies. Still have my grandmother’s butter churn too. Still use it. And coffee grinder. And grain mill. And egg beaters….

  4. Got two grinders. My mom ground up left over Sunday roast, added mayo & diced pickle. Heaven!

  5. Have a couple. Grind caribou & moose with one, the other was my grandmother’s. I figure it’s pretty close to a century old & still gets used to grind nuts for cookie filling.

  6. We have a new version of that one for meat primarily.
Yet another for nuts and corn.
One more , a Wonder mill Jr. for grinding wheat.

  7. I snagged the one my mother had when they broke up house seven years ago. I haven’t used it, but I have it if I’ve ever a mind to. These things were fixtures in almost every household during the Depression and earlier from what she told me. Ham salad made with one of these was delish.

  8. I have a new one in a box just in case. No idea what happened to Mom’s. Oldest brother probably got it. She went to a powered one later. Would grind cooked roast adding onions, pickles and other things. freeze it. When on vacation would break it out add mayonnaise to hold the meat together and make sandwiches on the road side. I had a great life so bring on what ever is next.

  9. My parents have had one for 50 plus years. My late dad hooked it up to an electric motor for processing pigs. Later on we used it to make Venison Garlic Sausage. The best part was test tasting the sausage. I have all the equipment just no venison lately.

  10. I have 4. One new fancy ss one and the rest are older than I am. The ss one has some plastic washer bs in it…. Use them on occasion but have electric one for the beef/goat/pig/venision/elk that happen sometimes….

      • Ill see if I can post a pic of it tomorrow. Or the pic on the box. Its more traditional meat grinder. Two of my collection are the grind alls, the other 2 including the ss are more meat grinder style.
Have old crank grain grinder to. Use it on occasion to grind grains for chicks….

        • Oh yea… The ss is for stainless steel. It looks like any other except its shiny…..

          • My Apologies, I thought you didn’t add the a to ss, usually stainless steel is abbreviated as SS or S/S… that I would have understood

  11. As a kid, I ground a lot of chicken & ham for chicken salad and ham salad with one of those. I wish I had the one my parents had. And I wish I had the hand crank flour mill that my grandfather had.

  12. Sausage grinder. Also coffee grinder in a pinch. Really you grind anything from the garden to your fingers to meats to spices and salt. Maybe wheat and corn?

  13. Helped my folks make lots of Italian sausage with that many mango seasons ago.
