  1. I had a sixty years long habit starting with unfiltered Camels.

I used nicotine lozenges and nicotine infused toothpicks to help with withdrawal. The lozenges were 2mg. When I got a craving I’d pop a lozenge. After a couple weeks as the craving interval got longer and less intense, I’d break the lozenges in half. Took about 6 weeks or so to wean off nicotine completely.

I was smoking 7-10 a day of ultra-lights when I quit. I still get cravings occasionally, but I’m able to ignore them. Sometimes I put a rubber band around my wrist and give it a snap right on where your pulse can be felt. It’s a psychological distraction method. Works. Sometimes you need more than one and sometimes a real hard snap.

The toothpicks I still use occasionally, mostly in social situations.

The lozenges taste like shit, even though they have some peppermint flavoring. The toothpicks also having flavorings added, like cinnamon, vanilla and others. You can find the toothpicks online. The lozenges are by prescription.

    • Anything to help.

My mom never kicked the habit, my dad went cold turkey after smoking for 60 years. Both died of smoking-related diseases. Sigh.
