The American Dream is still alive and kicking. If one has crazy student loan debt, who selected the field of study and signed the CONTRACTS? (yes, student debts are a CONTRACT and one is expected to hold up his or her end of the deal).

I believe we have a classic case of the “Tradus Americanus”. The primary symptom of this breed is a good piece of luck, probably boomer-ish, possibly a .gov worker and staunch Republican that thinks America won the world wars and supports Satanic Israel.

For the rest of us dirt people, it just aint so. Affirmative Action excluded about 30% of gov contracts that go to non-whites. Those without “licensing” are unable to work without the “paper” even though we are immensely qualified, regardless of field. We are struggling with $400 week groceries and the price of parts to keep our 20-30 year old hupte’s running despite the steady cost of duct tape. The opportunities we have/had are nonexistent because of the 75 million foreigners that have taken jobs and forced the AVERAGE home to around $400k and we are smiled at by the lenders pushing us into 50 year mortgages.
I can continue this screed, but because of my immense brain, unlimited material supporting my argument, and intolerance for stupid Bs posting from the more fortunate, I will secede to save bandwith arguing with the ignorant….again.
Finally, the only thing “alive and kicking” is the fact that Trump lied(I expected that) but I thought the R was smarter than the D…..YES I WAS IMMENSELY WRONG! There simply is no binary.

In the 60’s and 70’s the average truck driver had an income over $100k in today’s dollars.
In the 60’s GM was the country’s largest employer with over a half million high-wage employees. Today 150,000. Largest employers today are Amazon and Walmart.
The dream isn’t gone but it is fading.
