Was a crash course in the darker side of human nature.
Up till that point, I was a fairly well adjusted young man.
Many of the other listed titles were read later, or seen as movies.

I like showing old Leave it to Beaver episodes to my grandkids and asking them what they noticed most about family life back then vs today.
The overlaps and intersections don’t make sense. It looks like someone just put titles of dystopian worlds into a neat-looking diagram. Not sure how Animal Farm is the intersection of 1984, 451, and Handmaid’s Tale, for example.
But I like that Handmaid is in green, because that’s Islamic. I vaguely remember something about Handmaid being inspired by Afghanistan but the oppressors were converted to Christians by Atwood because that’d sell better to “Western” readers. (Western like Bella Abzug and Betty Friedan are “Western”. Go ahead and Early Life them. I dare you.) And boy did it sell. Handmaid seems to be a not-so-secret masturbatory fantasy of certain self-proclaimed feminists. Right up there with that 50 Shades stuff. (Yeesh.)
