True, but the US would’ve ended up detached from Great Britain eventually anyway, if only out of neglect. GB couldn’t manage to hold onto any other portions of their once vast empire, and the US wouldn’t have been an exception to that forced attrition. Also likely the US wouldn’t have existed in its present scope (in terms of total land mass) if the Brits had maintained control of the colonies.
Who knows if the Louisiana purchase and other large land acquisitions would ever have been made in that alternate history, but I’m thinking not. No matter, now that both our countries are circling the bowl, neither would benefit from being codependent anyway.
