He figures that averages out to about a thousand dollars a shot.
Damn am I glad I quit drinkin’.

Sorry, it ain’t worth it. I’ll stick with Woodford Reserve. That’s pricey enough.
You know there *are* cheaper whisky’s. There is even cheaper Glenlivet single malt scotch whisky. Try the 14yo. That’s one I like. And at about $50 to $60 per bottle, you don’t have to mortgage the house for a dram. Of course, if you like bourbon, (I do), then the world is your oyster.
Single malt scotches to me taste like a cross between panther piss and kerosene…I like the the blends that Johnny Walker puts out. Green, Gold and Ill even put out the extra bucks for a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. That shit is smooooth.
But 26k? For a single malt? Umm… no.
there are 2 type of Scotch. one is made by the millions of gallons and stored in some warehouse a few years to protect the name of Scotch
whisky. and then you have the good stuff. made with love and care
stored in real wood barrels and enjoyed neat or with ice.
Johnnie walker is shit whisky.
just smell it and rather smell the good stuff and then johnnie.
you will think it was paint stripper !
but they have a very good PR group. anyone who has tried the good stuff would never go back to johnnie.
In my time I have worked alongside many Scotties and they had me try various brands of single malt scotch that they said I might like. I just could not get my tongue wrapped around that, to me, that dirt like peaty taste. I suppose a lot of ppl appreciate and enjoy the flavor of the single malts but I just cant. PR or no…no taste or class on my part I suppose… but I like my Johnny Walker blends. I also like a scotch called Cardhu which is part of the Johnny Walker blend.
I like Johnnie Walker Black. The Double Black, not so much. Talk about panther piss! I bought a bottle of the green almost a year ago now and have yet to sample it. I also like Gentleman Jack. That is true sippin’ whiskey, IMHO. Regular Jack Daniels is another panther piss libation, IMHO.
Jack Daniels used to sell a green label whisky a long time ago. mid 1970’s. rough as anything I ever had.
a long time ago on a cold and wet night at FT. Campbell, KY. never even looked for it since
let along buy any. real rotgut stuff.
I’m even gladder I never took up drinking. Water and milk are my speed.
Dirt cheap, too!
Are you seeing the price of milk these days? You huffing it straight out of teat?
I gotten rather fond of black barrel Irish myself. but I do have a bottle of 12 year old Macellan for when it gets rough. that I drink straight up. the Irish goes well with coffee on a cool or cold night. and a bottle will last me a while to these days
like 3-4 months or more. the good stuff costs too much and my income is fixed these days so,,,
and there are a whole lot of things I would buy before I blew that kind of money
on booze. hell, the Macellan is over 80 bucks now a days
black barrel is like 40-42
When I finally quit drinkin’, I was pounding almost an entire fifth of George Dickel Black Label every night. Straight out of the bottle with beer back.
Every. Night..
I didn’t sleep, I blacked out.
Woke up still drunk and pounded a shot before I got out of bed.
Pretty much stayed drunk until about Noon when the hangover would start. Five O:clock and I was at it again in the parking lot before I left work.
Did that for years. I used to be real fond of Tullamoore Dew also. A decent Irish whiskey.
When I told my doctor how much I was drinking, the only thing he said was “That’s a LOT of calories!”
Once in a while I get a pretty strong hankering for an ice cold beer or a shot of Dickel but I just wait a few minutes and it goes away.
This is the first time in my entire life that I have been sober for ten years.
I was drinking McNaughton’s straight when I was 10 and Boone’s Farm or beer when I was 7.
Hi, my name is Phil and I’m an alcoholic.
LOL!
It’s a frikkin’ miracle I’m still alive.
I’m not quite there but, yah. A 1.75L of Jack every 3-4 days before going to the bar. Sunday and Monday are worse as my bar isn’t open and I’m very much a creature of habit who usually has a drink or two after the bar closes then goes to bed but when they aren’t open I just sit at home and drink until I pass out. No drinking before or during work and I actively take a month off from drinking every year (next month is going to totally suck). I need to get some better hobbies but I just can’t stand being around other people when I’m sober.
Boy, that is a lot of gasoline sitting there.
Can’t do scotch the stuff makes me gag . Must be because when I was a lad of eighteen I broke up with my girlfriend and decided I ought to get really loaded to get over it. I swiped a bottle of my Uncles Cuddy Sark and drank nearly all of it. Felt like shit for two days ,and haven’t been able to do scotch ever since. Ahh the lessons of my mis spent youth ! lol
Phil, in the spirit of the Biden crime family, I’ll loan you the use of my liver and kidneys to deal with that Celtic elixir. I’m so considerate that I would not give any to Cederq, it then being less work for his kidney.
That is my favorite scotch
While scotch whiskey is not my go to daily adult beverage I certainly enjoy a glass of Pinch from time to time.
No one will ever drink it. It will be held in someones collection and later sold for a profit to someone else that will never drink it.
I was cleaning the Scotch collection yesterday, been a few years since I went through them. Gently cleaned the 3/4 full bottle of 12 year Glenlivet I gave my Dad in ’81. I liberated it from his liquor cabinet after he passed 26 years ago. That bottle is worth more to me than the 50yo in the post.
BTW, i have a Scotch collection because I was notified of a serious liver condition three weeks after stocking a new man cave bar. Still have all the bottles from doing that. The Spousal Unit is instructed to give them to my friends who show for my funeral.
