  1. I like my tools well arranged so I don’t have to spend time looking for them when I could be finishing a job. And I hate it when someone uses my tools and puts them back in the wrong place. My nephew used a 7/16 3/8″ drive long socket and put it on the 1/2″ rack. Couldn’t find it, wondered where the hell I used it and didn’t put it back. Visiting with a customer the other day and noticed the socket in the wrong rack. Two days after I bought a replacement socket.

  2. Nice job for a home made tool cart. I do not have the time to make a custom tool cart and I prefer a tool box for several reasons. If all your tools are in a decent tool box they are contained , covered , and secure. This setup his things will get dusty, and being out in the open is impossible to secure and keep unauthorized people from running off with whatever catches their eye.

  3. Works great until you start using the tools and don’t put them back.
Note the pencils in the upper right. I’m going to say that after a few months of use, you won’t be able to find one of them.

Exposed like that they’ll get dust and overspray on them. Especially dust. All those exposed tools encourages poaching. Same thing with a pegboard to some extent.

I put up a pegboard on the wall right next to the interior garage door in my old house, and loaded it with common, cheap tools – like hobo freight tools, as well as older pliers. Worked like a charm to keep the future ex away from my good tools.

  4. I would be interested in photos of favorite setups, both home and for the car. I keep stuff on a pegboard at home, have experimented with a raskog from ikea a bit. (Rolling cart, gets messy.) It’s the car setup I struggle with. I keep farm tools on the floor under the fold down seats of Explorer, but picture framing supplies don’t wanna stay organized in a bag. Cordless drill likes to flop around. Suggestions would be helpful.
