The church looks very similar to the one I live in, only mine is red, but similar build
Stark, NH
Actually Jen, that bridge is in Arlington Vt. It’s about 20 miles north of Bennington, Vt. I’ve been across it several times on my Harley over the years.
Don’t put your cabin in Vermont boys, I just escaped from the People’s Republik last year, after watching, over the 30 years I lived there, the whole place go completely to hell. Nice place for a visit but don’t try to live there.
It is a damn shame. Opening day of deer season as recently as 1985 would see rifle tot’in hunters all over the state in little knots talking hunting tactics. The woods echoed with shots all day long, and the roads were filled with hunters piled into pickup trucks goin to drive some ridge or another. The conservative, rural nature of the state was intact and the New Yorkers and Connecticut yuppies were widely mocked. The beauty of the state continued to draw those NY , Conn, Mass commies over the years and they moved in with their money and started changing the politics of the place. I told some native Vermonter that the “Take Back Vermont” movement in the 1990’s, while well intentioned, was doomed to fail if they were only interested in lip service. As expected, Vermont is now as liberal as Massachusetts. Burlington is as much a communist hangout as Ashville or Cambridge.
The state still does have its mountainous and rural farming nature intact, which is about all that is left in the plus column. A local could certainly make an effective stand there with the remaining like minded people, but it will be a hard slog to victory. The small nature of the state means that everyone knows everyone else, and the enemy if most definitely in the majority. I think the patriots can win here in an all out conflict, but there will not be any help coming as most refugees entering the state will be of the wrong persuasion. Anyway, to me Vermonters were always synonymous with riflemen and hunters. Maybe thee are enough of them left to make a difference when it counts.
We’ve still a few of those in my area.
I watched a documentary of a flooded out bridge being rebuilt and placed back at a little higher elevation. The skills to do that will be gone soon unfortunately
Versions of both are about 2 miles from our house.
It’s still fairly nice around here.
