Let me tell you about the pathologists who would set their coffee and donuts on the edge of the autopsy table. Ah,the good ol’ days when you couldn’t sit in front of a microscope without a cup of coffee on one side and an ashtray on the other.
I (as the Lab Assistant) was always telling the students you could NOT eat at the lab while doing experiments.
Sigh.
I worked at an aircraft bearing manufacturer back in the 90s; they did cadmium, copper, nickel and silver plating as well as well as passivating stainless components.
There were tanks of cyanide that had leaching crystals. The guys that worked in that department thought nothing of eating in their work areas! That all stopped once OSHA did a surprise inspection and decided to camp there for about 6 month…
