We grew up on the edge of a small swamp in the Fla panhandle back in the late 50s to the mid 60s and had a Blood Hound that always chased out ahead of us looking out for danger. None of us ever got bit by a snake or had a run in with a bear. He was very protective of us and kept us safe. It has been 60 years since he died and i can still remember him like it was yesterday
The best kind.
When I was a kid Susie, our Brittany spaniel would always sit between my Mom and whom ever was at the front door. I didn’t understand at the time.
They’re better than family.
I have a few pictures and memories, as I’m sure many here do.
Amen.
There’s a reason I like dogs better’n people.
Because they’re better’n people.
In my 65+ years of living with and later, owning dogs, I’m 74, I’ve lost a name or two. Never had a bad dog.
I’m fortunate to have 4 great dogs, agreeing to cohabitate on my little piece of paradise, here in Tennessee. At this point, I’m committed to living to 85ish to stay buddies with my youngest dog. No health issues, in good shape, considering. We should make it, unless they starve, disease, poison, radiate or shoot us.
No worries…well, maybe a couple.
Long ago when I was training the last pointer I owned there was a very knowledgeable guy on a forum that had that line permanently at the bottom of his comments and reply’s. I stole it like it was gold, because it is. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due.
