The World Is Healing!

Not that I listen to any of this shit anyway…

The Billboard Top 40 Now Contains Zero Rap Songs for the First Time in Decades

Are musical tastes changing?

Or is there a deeper cultural shift in the works?

Those are the sorts of questions permeating social media and music discourse after a shocking report surfaced that the Billboard charts are missing a clear genre of song for the first time in decades.

“No Rap Songs Are in the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 40 for the First Time Since 1990,” Billboard blared in its headline.

“With Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s 13-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 ‘Luther’ falling off the Hot 100 dated Oct. 25, 2025, there were officially no rap songs in the chart’s top 40 last week,” Billboard explained.

The last time a rap song wasn’t in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 was in 1990, when Biz Markie’s eventual top 10 hit “Just a Friend” was only able to rank at 41.

Of note, a week after “Just a Friend” just barely missed the top 40, it jumped up to 29, kicking off the streak of rap songs in the top 40 that just ended.

35 years of that crap.

Well, now I have outlived two shit types of music fads.

Disco and Rap.

Actually, I never considered Rap to be music anyway.

Long live Heavy Metal bitches.

  1. I would not have known that Phil if it weren’t for you. Thank you.

That is some head banging tune.

  2. A new rap song just got released today from Tom MacDonald…a white conservative rapper (the only reason I listen to him) and it’s extremely critical of the left.
He tends to climb the charts pretty quickly, which is pretty amazing since he’s an independent artist. He’ll be on there soon…over 185k views so far and it’s only been out for 2 hours.

  3. I prefer heavy metal but if you can dance women will open up during a drink after a dance. I also know the Texas Two Step and a couple other choregraphed dancing routines. I do not care for most country music and the only rap song I like is Blondie in Rapture.

    • And now he only eats guitars GET UP!

Absolutely. I’ve had a crush on that little blonde hairt darlin’ for well over forty years now.

      • I saw Blondie in 79, 91 (solo bar show), and in 2008. The D Harry bar show was best but it was a 40 minute set for $90 for 2 seats. I was less than 20 feet from her.

    • It all started when Cadillac used Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” in a tv commercial.

        • As goes “grocery store” music, I’ve noticed of late that the permissable criteria on what can be on the playlist has gotten quite a bit wider of late. I’m hearing stuff I’d never have expected to as “Muzak”. Way back when I worked in retail, we had the old Muzak that was cheesy instrumental arrangements of easy listening and light pop (Elton John, Billy Joel, etc.) that came in on an FM SCA decoder on the rack in the back office.

That went into a simple three channel mixer (Muzak, PA system from desktop mix, Aux used for PA via telephone extensions) and then to a massive power amp that drove a 70V speaker output. I guess it was better than silence, especially on slow nights. That said, I did eventually work in a patch for a line in from a radio or CD player so we could listen to good ass rock and roll on overnights, and to listen to a World Series or two via the overhead PA. Other staff thought I was a genius for that (I didn’t tell them it was an stupid easy hookup).
