Yep, every time.
I’ve experienced that too many times. I’m going to experience it some more…oh well, it’s a price I’m willing to pay for superior companionship.
Tree Mike
or a puppy that’s wakes you up at 2-3 am to go out by licking your face ?
Mine howled loud enough to wake the dead. Yep, 3AM. Would grab a flashlight and take him and his sister out, then come back in and tuck them into my arms and lay in the recliner and go to sleep. They’d sleep like that for the rest of the night and still be there when wife got up later in the morning. They still like to cuddle with me in that chair 11 years later whenever I’m sitting down.
Rosie is our third Golden Smiler. Can’t call her spoiled because she’s too well behaved, but she is one pampered pup. And now at eight years old, she’s starting to get the frosty look around the eyes and muzzle. We tell her every day how much we appreciate her company.
I lost Furby, our Ragdoll cat last Sunday. He died of inflamed bowel syndrome that keeps his gut from absorbing food. Poor guy starved to death. I held him most of Sunday in my lap, we had OxyContin pills left over that we gave him to put him to sleep. He died slowly, but he purred while in my lap one last time. He was so emaciated, he weighed 4 pounds – when he used to be 29 at the peak of his health. He never complained, just got weaker and weaker. It hurt to watch him waste away, knowing there was nothing we could do. All the dogs we have had died suddenly, but that doesn’t make it any easier, does it?
I will surely miss the little fuzzy PITA, all of us here in the household do.
Ah, the price of having loving animal companions
Sorry for your loss Igor. It is never easy.
I prefer dogs over people. Put 5 of them down in my adult life, cry like a little girl every time
Man that made me cry. It’s been just over two weeks after losing one of my GSPs. She was a little over 15. Dogs are really tough on you when it’s their time to go.
Thank you for the reminder. Love them here, love them now. No regrets on the day of the inevitable. Just lonely walks, memories and healing the heart.
That post tells me all I need to know about you.
P.S. On that day have a trusted Veterinarian come out to the house. Costs a few bucks but you will be glad you did.
Gotta go blow my nose.
