I surely hope that the fathers of today are teaching their sons the skills necessary to be men and to proud of who they are. I see so much going wrong with the parenting going on now.
Right and proper Parenting has been demonized. Starting with that moron Dr. Spock in the sixties. The Feeelz are way too much of a consideration today. Understanding Survival, being honorable, protecting your family, providing For your family, at whatever cost to yourself is just not how society says is what is important.
Dr. Spock indeed. No winners, everybody gets a participation trophy. And NO LOSERS. No picking yourself up and trying harder next time. No CAPACITY. No spine. No honor.
In my family we learned right from wrong by encountering an 18″ ruler to our ass and it wasn’t applied just once. We also knew that when we were spared the ruler with “wait ’til your father gets home”, we’d REALLY fucked up ’cause Dad’s hands were like rocks.
And teach our daughters to only admire and love those same young men, and absolutely reject all others.
I saw a video recently where a father came to the epiphany that good men, raising sons, are raising their replacements. I’m very proud of the man my son became. Watching him, I know he’s a better father than I was. We both value the same things. He’s much better at teaching, much more patient, than I was.
