I am sure that my one and only child doesn’t think that way. The last two generations of children have gotten it into their heads that they are “entitled” because they were told that they could do anything or be anything that they wanted. Now, the world owes them.
my dad had a bit of a problem when he got towards the end.
I told him life as I see it is a circle , you start off not being able to do shit for yourself and need help doing almost everything, then you can take care of your ass
and that goes on for a while until the end, at that time you need help doing things again.
I think he thought I was nuts or something, but he sure didn’t mind my help though, make him eat real food and not drink that ensure crap.
he used me as a enforcer at times too to get my “brothers” to do the right thing.
funny how shit works out at times, because he used to give me shit about how I got the problem fixed ? still, I miss his ass. although he did help himself to my booze stash when I wasn’t looking.
My statement to young people is, “talk to old people, they know shit”.
Cancer sucks. Helped Dad care for Mom early fifties. Helped as best I could care for Dad early 80’s. Helped care for oldest brother in Florida early fifties.
Spent a lot of hours days and nights caring for my In-laws in their nineties ending a couple years ago. They died of old age but I would not trade that time for anything. They were special Godly people. I was lucky on the in-law thing.
M y Dad just turned 85. His Alzheimer’s is getting worse. He does not know where I live anymore. The stories are almost gone. I wish I could hear them again.
It’s hard living two states away……
