Took off in my Moms Custom 500, at liight on the gut in Salem, 1974. Auto trans. The guy in the Dodge next to me, dumped the clutch. See Ya!
He came around the corner by Bob’s Burgers, and took that front end off the ground right behind me. He was pissed. We had nuthin’ and beat him.
A bunch of the comments on the posting at WC’s said the vid is fake or the car has some kind of hydraulic lift kit to make the front end come off the ground. They apparently they never went to any of the 70’s/80’s drag races or watched them on WW of Sports and saw first hand what a high torque launch looks like.
It is fake. It was for a movie. Notice zero body twist from engine torque. Chargers weren’t known for their rigidity. Wheelies are real crowd pleasers but not good for ET’s or being able to steer.
No wheelie bars=fake and maybe ghey.
GMTA – been there and done that. Wrecked a few front ends when I had to brake!
Also, no wrinkle in the tires.
Is it possible, yes. Have I seen a yellow C2 427 ‘vette carry it’s front wheels for half a block in front of my uncles garage in Long Island city, yes. Is it going to get you a good et, no. Will it get the trim, yes. Did it bring your ass back from the ‘nam, no. But your bros would bust it out occasionally and fly the fronts in your honor when the spirit moved them. So yeah, it’s possible.

Well, mine was a 427 L88 ’68, but…yeah (see comment above, though.)
Except it’s in Califruitopia and not my driveway.
Not a weeble or wobble, that guy knew what he was doing
You get smoke or the wheels up, not both. Smoke means you lost traction, wheels up means it hooked up.
I used to hang out with drag racers and off roaders (big over lap with them) in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. That’s a very doable build there. All it takes is knowledge, experience and money. All of those were in copious quantities in So. Cal.
