  1. Since I retired I’ve never been busier. People who are grateful and even older than me get charged $1.00 + material for services rendered. Smartasses and know-it-alls start at $50.00 an hour and go up from there. Under the house or in the attic (confined space) starts at a grand and up. I didn’t put all those years in the trades for nothin’.

    • If I pay my handyman cash he will work for $30 an hour instead of $40. What I am paying for is his construction knowledge. His tips and the ability to calculate how many sheets of plywood to build a set of cabinets is well worth the money plus he is an electrician.

  2. That’s great and all, until you have to deal with the ‘Karens’. They will suck any joy you have in your trade right out of you. I refuse to do anything with money involved. I do it as a gift. That way it is a ‘favor relationship,’ and I’m on the plus side of the equation.

    • When I do repairs for relatives or friends and and they offer to pay me I say that ” if I was working for money you couldn’t afford me”.
“And please don’t tell anyone else who fixed it”.

      • You too?

Sadly, I’m too old and infirm to do much of anything but program. And I’m real tired of that. Unless it gets my interest, that is…
