There is a certain amount of genius in both of those designs.
When my uncle [in Nauvoo Alabama] installed indoor plumbing in about 1963, the old outhouse sat there unused. He said to himself, it would be a waste not to use it for something else.
So he moved off of the hole, scrubbed it down and built a fire on the ground, hung freshly butchered pork shoulders from the rafters and called it his new smoke house….Yum they were good…True story.
