  1. Strategic Retreat…is that what it is called these days? I thought it was called common sense. You only need enough clothing to get from one wash day to the next, one set of dishes, 3 pairs of shoes (I live in the desert, so one is good enough), a mode of transportation, a roof over your head, utilities, medical care, food, and the rest is just fluff. Everybody I see living well within their means is also at peace.

  2. “Is that all there is?”
Yeah, we need more spiritual hardening, because “That’s all there is?” is really indicative of lack of contentment with what you have. We have seen that “Keeping up with the Jones’s” is a losing proposition for ourselves, because it keeps us on thee treadmill of “success”.
No, we need to learn contentment, spiritual calm, and know that the material world is not the end-all and be-all of our existence.
Don’t know who first said it, but,,, we ARE Spirits living in a material world. We need to get it right with our spirit FIRST before we can reach our best existence before we move on to the next (after death removes us from this world). Materialism is selfish, after all is said and done, and leads to spiritual decay. THIS is why those who reach “success” decide to chuck it all and go back to simpler things. They turn down the “noise” in their existence and realise that the material things are not conducive to a good life.

    Thoughts?
