Big difference between “friendly acquaintance” and friend. Learned that one a long time ago. I was young, it was a pivotal change in awareness.
Great post. Your comment should be stamped on the inside of everyone’s eyelids. A lot of individual agony could be spared if everyone often took a few moments to reflect on the statement.
At 73, I have a great many acquaintances but only three friends.

I must really need friends, I’ve got 4 dogs…and 1 cat, the dogs aren’t interested in or qualified for rodents.
