Great gear pic but – what’s the difference between a mitre gear and a bevel gear? something to do with the pitch?
Can’t be the size difference because the spiral bevel gears look the same size.
I had the good fortune of seeing and old school gear hob run. Wished I had learned machining skills over the years instead of some of the other things I learned.
It needs a planetary reduction gear set. Without planetary gearing automatic transmissions would be much bulkier.
Mitre gears are a sub-type of bevel gears that only change the direction of the drive train without changing the speed so only equal tooth-count bevel gears are mitre gears.
