Pondering The Immediate Future, OPEN THREAD

Some or most of look to be having three days available to us to do something besides being a Wage Slave.

We can expect the usual OOH RAH, ‘Merican, 4th of July 24/7 for the next three days at least.

I have some sad news for you, the America we were born and raised in is deader than a door nail and there is no miraculous resurrection in the cards.

I have documented the death of America slowly but surely for many years now and I can pretty much call a Time of Death at this point.

That certainly doesn’t mean that we can just throw up our hands and walk away.

On the contrary, the need to fight has never been greater.

It’s just that what we need to fight for now is a New and Improved version of what got perverted and corrupted.

The very first thing that needs to happen is that a few million people need to pull their heads out of their asses and come to the realization that our government wants us dead.

Not just beat down, really dead.

They have been doing their damndest to kill off as many of us as they could, openly, for the past two years.

Since the first plan didn’t work out as well as they had hoped, they are now doubling down with a variety of other methods.

Those of us they can’t kill outright are to be hammered into dog shit economically for starters.

So I plan on doing some thinking, some scheming and some planning over these next 3 days.

Since the Communist supporting local Government outlawed fireworks here in the city limits finally a couple of years ago anyway, they have saved me a bunch of money and aggravation for their trouble, both of which I can now use to my advantage.

I know I have had to come to the conclusion that about all I can do at this point is to try and survive as best I can without any immediate support from anyone here on the home front.

It is what it is and I have been surviving shit for a very long time.

I can be quite innovative and very efficient when I have a certain goal I want to accomplish right in front of me.

I’m also not the least bit afraid to let it all hang out if necessary.

This is an open thread, you can spout off on anything that suits your fancy but I am really interested in your thoughts about long term plans, if you have any.

  1. If it goes sideways I am heading to my cabin.
It will be rough, outhouse and wood stove but I have a wife and daughter to think of.
I’m hoping we can ride it out.

  2. Living in a county that voted 85% for Trump in each of the last elections, the folks around here are of a fairly conservative mindset. As my wife and I agree that since we are subject to the inflation that everyone is at the moment, we don’t mind spending even an extra couple of % buying from locally owned folks’ businesses. Local supermarket chain (regional at best), local mom & pop pharmacy usually, locally refined gasoline (yep, it exists), local rancher for beef, local farmers for veggies. It may not make the Wall Street companies shudder in fear but I suggest this small effort by many folks like us would have some benefits that insulate from some of the lib/progs power over us.

  3. I am lucky enough to be a little farther away from a city. I have a creak in the backyard, turkeys, rabbits and squirrel all over the place. I trap and snare instead of shoot (although I have a cache of arms).
Many of the rioting type do not cross the line at the main thoroughfare 7 miles South because they are outgunned and out flanked by small town folk and farmers.
The immediate future holds uncertainty as supplies run short, but we stocked beans, rice and canned goods. The cornfields are all over here and the farmers will feed a small family for a days wages/work in the field.
Longer term, I have stashed a bit of silver, and have cashed in the 401k plan to use as immediate funds. My wife is still not fully awake, but she is reliable.
I hope the market crashes, I hope people wake up, but there is no going back to the way things were…Ever.
The best I can do is teach people in my community, set up the command post, and task people to be guards, hunt, fetch water and do the daily things right here in my neck of the woods. I am not afraid, just sad that it took so long. I was prepped for WW3 over ten years ago.
Thank you for this open ended thread, I know there are many like us here and we will thrive when called to duty.

  4. Add to the face our 20 year war in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have a very large population of war veterans with varying levels of PTSD. The fireworks during the 4th celebrations can set off PTSD episodes that can last for more than a month in me. If the fireworks start on Saturday I will be pitching a 3 day drunk.

It is sad that as a 21 year veteran with 2 campaign medals I dread New Years and the Independence Day holidays.

    • I’m standing right next to you, also went over the 20 year mark, and will not go outside this weekend unless absolutely necessary.

  5. My long term plans are to head to your place and hide behind all the heavy metal you have in the garage…

  6. Long term plans? Heh, that’s not an open question. chuckling

Mostly to plan with my neighbors for local “security” when the ruckus kicks off, for lack of a better word at the moment, which is what some people would wrongly label as militia, because the proles and bottom feeders will care not for anything except whatever they can steal.

  7. “They have been doing their damndest to kill off as many of us as they could, openly, for the past two years….Since the first plan didn’t work out as well as they had hoped, …”
I’m not so sure about that. Lots of folks around me are dying suddenly of strokes, heart attacks, cancer that had been in remission for years, etc. I think their Covid plans are pretty much on schedule, killing us slowly but surely from the vaxx side effects. Glad I refused the shot.
Long term plans? Just keep on buying wheat and canned goods, and growing what I can.

  8. one thing I noticed is a lot of people do not talk about peanut butter.
it was the one thing I knew I could live on when out in the field or at other military training areas where the food was local. don’t ask ! anyway, with peanut butter and crackers might not be the best meal, you can live on it for a long time.
also something you can get the kids to do to feed themselves while you doing other things. I keep a least a case worth around and lots of crackers.
simple meals will be the order of the day. anything you learn how to do now, it much better than trying something when your starving.
same thing with anything else you might have to do or know how to do.
pest control will become a huge problem once shit goes south. plan on it now.
there a reason why your grandparents had barn cats around. or king snakes
safe drinking water is another big problem. learn how to make water safe to drink and cook with. all kinds of soap and bleach will be in short supply. plan on that too. when you look around, you will see there is a lot of things we take for granted these days. remember for close to 400 years a ounce of black pepper was worth a ounce of gold.
garlic will become important as other meds become scarce. it will kill most infections if used early enough.
plan on what you can do now to get ready for the coming shit storm.
help others NOW learn if they willing to listen.
no one can stand alone in this. we will need each other to get thru this.
why do you think they trying so hard to split us apart ?
best of luck to all of you out there.
if you not out of the cities by now, you best be thinking of where you going to go when it really gets bad. and do not show up a someone door with empty hands
as that will not get you very far.
with the power out, no one will need a IT guy or phone repairman or a lot of other
    people without skills.

    • Funny you mention peanut butter…I just picked up a big ass jar of powdered peanut butter to supplement my PB stash.
Pest control? Keep a good supply of boric acid on hand. Stock up on citronella oils and candles. If you smoke, save the used butts and soak them in water for a while. Strain and add some dishwashing liquid. That mixture can be sprayed on food plants to get rid of garden pests. The nicotine is a contact poison and the dish soap causes the critters to get the shits and die from dehydration.

  9. My plans have taken a serious turn. Wife has suffered two serious falls over the past six weeks resulting in 4 cracked ribs, broken foot and broken arm. She is now wheelchair bound so we cannot go away to safer ground. I used the time she was in rehab to check my own stamina and discovered that I can no longer maneuver with a rifle, pack and chest rig so have decided to remain in a defensive posture and team up with family and acquaintances I can trust, stockpiling food and ammunition to put up an in place resistance. We figure we can hold our own until FJB sends in the F-15’s. I personally will go until my last breath and bullet and fighting knife and sword if necessary – no way will I agree to live under oppression in a commie state, nor to participate in another Bataan death March. I will die as I have lived – FREE! FJB and those who support him!

  10. You know me well enough to know I’m not picking on you with the next sentence.

“Long term plans” what a oxymoronic statement when most folks can’t think past the last news cycle. To sound like a broken record of myself most folks are going to die.

To deal with your actual question a problem I see is too many folks don’t really plan for “long term”. Is long term next month, next year or maybe five years down the road? What about five decades? It’s pretty doubtful I’ll still be around in another fifty years but what about my kids and their kids? Who is planning that far out and for what kind of world?

My long term plans in the event of a catastrophic event is to be prepared to survive the initial conditions of the event, keep my family and those dependent on me safe and protect the resources at my disposal to ensure our ability to continue to survive with a goal of building a self sustaining group capable of producing what they need to live and thrive.

To that end I continue to pass my knowledge, skills and abilities down to my children so that when I’m gone they don’t lose all the acquired lore that is stored in my head. It would be hell for them to depend on my knowledge base and just when they need me most I go to sleep with the bones of my fathers.

I’m really not too worried about day to day survival for any period of time. We have more than enough of everything we need even in a total grid down situation short of an artificial sunlight event.

What I am worried about is a survival of the species type of thing and that is my children being able to find suitable husbands and/or wives, life companions, mates, whatever you wish to call a member of the opposite sex. I raised them with values and morals for a society that no longer exists for the most part.

I know I can’t be the only father of young adults that believe in God and Christ, value honor, trust and integrity; that work hard; that don’t drink, smoke, do drugs or party; that aren’t tatted up and pierced with so much junk they set off a metal detector; that are waiting for marriage before sex; that are clean cut, attractive people with good personalities but I have to tell you if there are other kids out there like that they are hard to find. My two daughters can’t even find someone to consider going on a date with. Ditto the two sons. My oldest son when I brought the subject up a week or so ago expressed “they’re all tramps”. Here’s a short list of his questions before he would even consider asking a girl out – Do you believe in God?, are you conservative valued?(not politics) Have you ever been a male? Did you take the clot shot? Do you do drugs? Do you like the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and the shooting sports? He had half a dozen more but I’m sure you can get his drift.

The problem is probably worse for my daughters. My 28 year old said she’s not even trying to go on a date anymore because all the guys want to do is party, get high and have a one night stand.

I don’t know where I’m going with this other than it really weighs on me and I don’t know how to help them in this particular area.

Enough of all that crap, one of these days I’m going to head your way and drag you up to the mountains for a weekend of camping, fishing and telling lies.

    • Let me know when it’s convenient for you.
I am way overdue for some peace and quiet, fishing and staring into a campfire.
The weather don’t matter that much and I have what I need.
BTW, I won’t be asking where to plug in my hair dryer.
I literally had some Valley Girl ask me that once when I asked if she wanted to go camping….

      • Having seen you with your hat off I can’t imagine you needing a hair dryer but if you feel the need I could always bring one of the gensets with me.

    • Still single at 28? She’s a feminist and will never bond with no man. Probably had two abortions she didn’t tell you about.

      • I feel sorry for you, that your life experience has left you so jaded.

        • My son, 23, good prospects as he graduates in Business (CPA and/or CFA) isnt dating for the same reason – women his age are either obese or just party girls, or both. He’s patiently waiting and hoping.

  11. My long term plans are to try to keep the American Medical Industry from taking my last penny before I take my last breath.

Longer term, I have to say, I’ve never ever seen a fictional story about the future where anything good happens.
