When I was about that age, my parents gave me a pedal tractor (because my Grand Dad had a big Ford tractor that fascinated me).
I was often wearing coveralls then, too.
I would while away an evening under that thing dismantling and re-assembling the pedal linkage over, and over, and over.
Probably spent as much time doing that as I did riding it.
That is actually pretty accurate. I can still remember wrenching on and lubricating my pedal car, circa approximately 1964.
I can also remember trying to figure out how to adjust the seat height on my tricycle even before that.
