I’ll stick with my instant, thank you just the same.
It’s faster, tastier, and much, much stronger.
Everything else (and I’ve tried ALL of them) is swill.
Sorry, I have been a life long addict.
To percolate … Or not to percolate … That is the question.
IF you have a gas or propane stove. AND a s m a l l, vintage, aluminum percolator (with glass, not plastic top button).
And have never gone to the trouble? Then shame, shame on you.
VERY low flame (after perking begins). Exactly FIVE minutes after, you are ready Freddy.
Yes, the high priced, boutique can of Columbian coffee. And Crystal Geyser bottled water
If you ARE one of them thar lazy types?
Coffee and water, mixed together in mug (with a loose fitting baggie cover for splatter). Nuke to just before overflowing. THEN pour into your Melitta ceramic filter holder.
This February – May I will be back in the jungles of Guatemala.
Doing a canoe trip down the Buffalo River is on my list!
it sounds good perking on my wood stove. yes, it is a old school type of pot.
but in stainless steel. 12 cup they say, but I never got more than 8 out of it
(big cup ) one thing I have found handy is a small mesh strainer to get out the smaller grounds. it seems like they are sweeping up around the machine and putting that in the can. I don’t seem to remember coffee dust before in the can?
Dave in PA, Percolators measure a cup as 5oz not the 8oz we kniw. Whence this came from I don’t know but that’s what I’ve known it to be.
Either way I miss my percolator and woukd toss this Ninja bs for the old fashioned stove top version.
Biggest issue for me is finding a decent brand of coffee to brew. I’ve tried many brands but they’re all tasting like acidic shite and unless you add crap to it, they end up tasting worse. Some yrs back i tried Greek coffee and that wasnvery good. But dang if they only make a shot glass size cup. I want a mug of that at every turn. I was told that would put me through the roof. Fine by me as most idjits around here do that without me having any coffee…
We have 4 people in my house that drink coffee. I invested in a 30 cup urn percolator. Takes 30 minutes to perc an entire pot the the result is really good. My .02 worth.

Well now, doesn’t that make just make you some special kind of asshat!!!
Probably Nescafé Decaf with some coffee mate creamer.
Nescafe, yes. Decaf, no, buttplug.

I’m going to have to try that. Sounds like a great idea.
Didn’t know you had a blog. Visited. Sorry to see you’ve been nuked. Have added your substack to my blog slog. Good hunting.
Percolating coffee on a Coleman stove after emerging from a tent deep in the Idaho woods. That is as close to Heaven as we can get on earth.
^THIS!^
Mike good to see you around. Deep in any woods or on any river bank both work for me.
Indeed. Woods, stream, percolated coffee, bacon and eggs in the frying pan, warm boots—the list is near endless.
This was too cold, but I am glad I did it.

My preference is the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Spent a few nights camping on gravel bars while on 3 day floats multiple years a few years ago.
I think its called the Ouachita trail, you should go hike it with your expertise.
I have hiked parts of the Ouachita Trail and backpacked parts of the Ozark Highlands Trail. I want to finish the OHT next year in the Fall.
