Memorial Day, May 30th, 2022

This is not a happy holiday, it is a time to somberly reflect on the men and women who gave a life for the Country they loved and respected. A time to reassess why we go to serve and go to war. They all wanted to protect what was precious and valuable to them. The holiday, a three day week end is seen by many to pull out the camper, the toys and have a ripping, beer soaked start of the summer, completely by ignorance or apathy refuse to respect or honor those that willingly committed the ultimate sacrifice. I read a comment on LL’s blog “Virtual Mirage” his post “The Long Weekend,” May 28, 2022 a quote from a commentator named “boron” he stated, ” “Please don’t thank me for volunteering to do my duty to G-d and Country.” Most veterans, myself included do not enjoy being thanked by people, especially who never served. Duty, most will never understand why those that enlisted revere that word. We know we may not come back one hundred percent, or come back at all.

A Long, Long Overdue Upgrade To My Smithy 3 In 1 Machine Is Almost Complete Finally

A couple of fellows that read the Blog but would like to remain anonymous donated a brand new Variable Frequency Drive and a 220 volt motor, already wired up about six freaking months ago now so I could upgrade my machine.

It’s been driving me crazy ever since, wanting to get that done.

It’s killing me that I can’t thank these two publicly but I will adhere to their wishes.

They know who they are and they probably think I’m a lazy worthless sonofabitch for not getting this done sooner.

Couldn’t blame them for thinking it.

Anyways, I told the Wifely Unit last Thursday that pretty much everyone could fuck off this weekend, I wasn’t doing anything for anybody.

I have been going full blast 7 days a week for at least the last 2 months and I am tired of it.

I figured having a three day weekend might give me a fighting chance to jump on this project.

It’s not completely done but it’s together enough to show that it does work.

I still have to mount the VFD, tidy up the wiring, figure how I am going to permanently mount the motor and make some kind of cover over the pully on the jack shaft to keep the Safety Nazis off my ass but it does work and I am just THRILLED!

Thanks again guys, I didn’t forget you after all.

Soon I will actually be able to use this thing the way I have been wanting to since the day I drug it home.
