That Ain’t Good

Just one of a buttload of problems at work today.

Thankfully it was for the compressed air system and not a water line.

We’ve been having problems with the air compressors for months.

Management has been made aware of this the entire time.

They are over a hundred grand, almost two hundred thousand to replace so obviously they have been recalcitrant to pull the trigger.

One is dead dead now and we have been fighting the other one for a couple days. All morning we fought it. That pipe is for hooking up an auxiliary compressor and it got water behind the shut off valve and Kablewie.

Froze up with the cold weather we have been having. I think it was a whopping 18 degrees out this morning.

This is just one problem among many that cropped up today so we were running around like crazy all day.

Welp. the one remaining compressor shit the bed about twenty minutes before quitting time, while I was busy working on something else.

They called in the people who installed it originally and who have worked on them in the past but I have a sneaking suspicion they won’t be able to get to it right away. They are pretty flaky that way.

A diesel powered compressor big enough to run the 300,000 Sq, Ft building runs about $9000 a month.

Somebody is going to have some decisions to make and I won’t be involved with that.

Which is exactly the way I like it.

The backstory on this video is that the “professor” is a professional actor who specialized in commercials. He was hired by Chrysler to act in the production of a “promotional” film. The cameraman was twiddling with his camera setting up focus, sound and brightness when the actor ripped off this masterpiece of bullshit to warm up and get in-character.
The cameraman kept recording and the rest is history.

It’s A Frozen Wasteland Open Thread

We have six inches of powder out front, I had to fill the coffee carafe up with cold water to get the truck door unfrozen and opened up.

I have my heavy duty cold weather suit dug out, my lunch box, cigarettes and coffee sitting here and I’m waiting for the truck to warm ip enough to get the ice off the windshield.

A couple miles East of here got hammered with over a foot of snow and I can’t wait to try and get out to the roads to see how much packed snow and ice is out there waiting.

Along with thousands of stupid fucking morons.

I have the chains in a box and I’m getting ready to throw everything in the old Chevy and give it a go. I would dearly love to try out the new 4X4 but it’s not insured yet and I don’t want to take that chance.

What kinds of misery are y’all having to deal with?

I know it’s supposed to be completely fucked from here to Maine.

It even snowed in Las Vegas yesterday.
