Opening the thread Bustednuckles started and alluded to of fireworks and what Tsquared stated about fireworks and PTSD.

I wasn’t in Iraq or Afghanistan, my hell was Bosnia and to that end, cringe at the 4th of July and somewhat at New Years. You don’t understand unless you experienced and hopefully lived through it.

    • From what they’re saying about animals, the planet has already been depopulated from all the fireworks, not to mention the war noises.
Yet when you step outside, they’re still out there.
Grew up around folk who served in WWII & Korea. A lot of them still went to firework displays.
When I see these, I wonder who is hyperventilating, and what hidden agendas are driving them.

      • Was raise around people who survived WWII as civilians. Their biggest problems was tornado-warning sirens (air-raid sirens). They loved fireworks and had some of the best ones.

  1. I fought in Iraq in 2004 and 2005 as an Infantry Team Leader. I friggen can’t stand all of the fireworks on and around the 4th. Going to a scheduled fireworks display is not the problem, it’s all of the fireworks going off randomly throughout the area for a friggen week either side of the holiday. I finally moved way out in the country and my nearest neighbor is over a mile away which is just about right.

    • Damn straight, although my little bit was somewhat earlier than yours, my sentiments exactly. The randomness. No bueno.

The old saying “if you didn’t go, you wouldn’t know” is inscrutable and immutable.

    • We’ve had to close down tank ranges because the sound was said to be disruptive to some kind of f—ing woodpecker. Some how animals including Woody Woodpecker have managed to survive lightning and thunder all these years but none of these concerned citizens and pandering politicians can seem to grasp that concept or imagine why there is so often a greater concentration of animals – particularly endangered ones – on military installations.

  2. oh whaaa, whaaa, freakin’ whaaa. go put you big girl panties on & shut your pie hole. you might have a place to cry if you was drafted (not much tho) but for us who signed up for whatever reason signed up on our own accord.
