Haven’t seen one of those in a while.
I got one hanging around here for some reason.
Dad had a stroke when I was 8. Mom didn’t trust an 8 year old with the Toro. She bought one of those.
Ever mow a half acre with one of those?
Got one years ago and they work really well.
Used one back in the day.
Had an edger made out of a drier motor too.
Yeah, I have a reel mower that I used to cut the yard with. A good workout but the grass has to be *just right* or it just gets ran over. We still have it – takes a lot of patience to use.
A sharp reel blade is a joy to use. A dull reel blade is a workout
I had a McClain barefoot on my old front yard was glorious. Finding someone to sharpen blades was a pain in the ass, Mike is correct. down the road first mow hit a rock, bing, that was all it took parked it and sold it.
Also, that’s why kids today are fat
Sharpen the blades with a grinder in 30 seconds you lazyass.
I’d get rid of the lawn before I’d use one of those again.
I always said, tear out the grass, cement it all and paint or tint it green…
We use one even today. Easy peasy if you have the muscle.
Spent many hours behind one of those. Dad also made me sharpen it.
I appreciate the 30hp zero turn I have now, because of the hours with the reel mower.
This is truth
If I had a small yard in an urban setting – yes.
Otherwise, nope.
And you’ll not find me living in a city again.
Make my low back hurt just remembering!
Had one, Dad/Mom made me mow the neighbor’s front yard as well (Long story…).
And here I was, highly allergic to grass. The mower was *entirely* made of metal, even the wheels which were fluted for traction. Heavy bastard to an 8-year-old.
