One More Day

I’m sure I’ll make it although it’s colder than a witches tit outside.

Don’t know about anyone else but I am very much looking forward to doing my best imitation of a bump on a log for the next four days after I get home tonight.

  1. -18 with a -43 wind chill here in NE Nebraska. Great day out here on the Great Plains. As long as the wood pile holds up. Next week back in the mid 30″s.

  2. Hang in there, Buddy.
The days now getting longer, we’re on the upside.
Been a few years since we’ve had Winter this early in winter.
2018(?) we were still green until Feb 17, then the ice came after the short blizzard. You could look across the land & see the swathe, entire roads with broken power poles. The weakest failed first, and the rest dominoed as they couldn’t carry the strain.
Sounds like we’ll be in for a repeat this week.

  3. Here in Oklahoma City it is -1 degrees with wind chill calculated. While preparing a spaghetti sauce in my crock pot and planning to stay warm and cozy at home, I discovered that I am out of red wine. As I have no car—I have only walked and ridden hideously expensive bicycles for ten years—I have to ruck 3 miles in my winter clothing to get some. Think I’ll wait until noon or so.

  4. 11 degrees in western IL WC 4
    30 @ 0630
    25 @ 0730
    18 @ 0830
    11 @ 0930
snow starting, but don’t think much of the 3-4″ forecast..it’ll be too cold
but this burg hasn’t seen but one or two days below zero the last three-four years, Oh My Gawd the world is ending according to the radio and tv people

  5. We had a snow squall blow in early this morning here in southcentral KS. Only about an inch fell, but it was blowing sideways and caused a whiteout. Temps were -8 at 0930; going up to around 2 later today. Keep warm and toasty!

  6. We dipped into the negatives last night here in Eastern Washington. Those of us who grew up in these here parts aren’t impressed (just bloody cold), but the “non-locals” think The Next Great Ice Age is coming.

    Wankers.

Hope my freshly filled bottles of propane don’t run out before this cold snap does, my garage floor is COLD and I have to crawl under to get to the exhaust pipes to unbolt the flanges so’s I can get the heads out and fixed. Thank goodness for air tools!

  7. We are at a balmy 39° here in central california. I sympathize mightily with you much colder guys. Hang in there. Brother and Sister in the panhandle of Texas are at 3° this morning. Sister in Michigan I haven’t talked to yet, hope she still has power. Hers goes out on a regular basis, has to use a generator to keep going.

  8. I’m warmer than Deathray at -42… just happy it’s dead calm. ‘Bout time we had a normal winter up here.

  9. The wife hollered from the kitchen a while ago asking what the temperature outside was and I looked up at the weather station on the desk and it said “0”. I yelled back “There isn’t one”. She wasn’t impressed and came in to look and gave me a wry “Technically I guess you are right”.
I think I need to go check the shop stove, yeah, I need to go do that.

  10. Plus 22 here, the freezing rain is supposed to start in the early AM, but not as bad as what the east wind will be in Phil’s area off the river gorge.

  11. About 65° here this morning in central Florida.
Supposed to be a 30° drop by this time tomorrow
That means all my tropical plants will be dead and perhaps dying too…
I’ll be inside with the heater on and breaking open that new bottle of Jamison’s black barrell too …
