Whatthehell was that ginormous “truck” in photo #7??
It kinda rings a bell… I’ve seen it before, can’t remember where.
I tried looking it up and could not find any info on it, not even in Army Archives web site
It’s a Tundra Train. Parts of one like it, just not as big, are still here in Fairbanks. They used it to supply the DEW Line stations on the North Slope. The ine in the photo was sent to Greenland.
Thanks p2, Igor and I was thinking it was up in Alaska, possibly having to do with the DEW systems, it seemed to be about time frame in design.
Ding ding ding ding!!
It *might* have been in a National Geographic I once read, IIRC…
I’ll send some old truck photos to you but I can’t seem to find an e-mail address. Let me know if you’d like the contributions.
Thanks.
Old log trucker Elmo
Elmo, Phil and me appreciate that but, our trolls think they can use any email address we provide for such things as their personal spam bots and spam a lot of other blogs and people, so we decided not provide any email address. Sorry about that.
I understand completely. Thanks anyway, Friend!
Got a few photos of a 65 White Super Mustang that I used to drive. How do IO get them to you?
We both had to shut down any email contacts for the site because the trolls got ahold of them and starting sending threats to each other spoofing them, trying to set us up.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
