The photo labeled “Mercury truck” is actually a 1946 Hudson truck. They didn’t sell very well, and they look, well, weird.
Kang, the web site I find a lot of these picture have some descriptions, but most don’t and this one said it was a Mercury but no other info. It isn’t the first time I have been caught with my trouser around my ankles. Thanks for catching it!
Is that what you meant to really say?
Good pics Cederq.
For some reason, my follow-up reply didn’t get posted. Could it be that I screwed up? Nah. Anyway, the Hudson company produced 91,039 vehicles in’46, while Ford produced 468,022 in the same year. This is why Hudson trucks are rare today. They were rare when they were new! Longest hood in the industry, and it hinged at the front. Factoring in fat fenders, you’d have to have some pretty long arms to work on the ol’ flathead six these trucks had in them.
Everything you sent got posted, didn’t go into Spam or Trash and the info about Hudson’s post is there. Just in the wrong post, you commented on my morning coffee post
Regarding the Model A (?) truck with the canoe on top, I wonder what exactly is that gas motor on the bed for? It appears to have a shaft running to the front of the truck bed. Anybody got a clue?
