Pedant alert – that’s not a Morris Minor, but a 1956 Opel Olympia Record. A different picture of that same car is on the Wikipedia page for that model, and there are other images of that same car dotted about the web.
There was a Morris Minor “wagon”, which was the Traveller model. The visible wood is a structural ash frame. Morris also made a van based on the Minor chassis, which was popular with the Post Office and other utility companies.
What do we know Mick, we are ignorant rednecks and most wouldn’t know one Brit car from another. It looks like a Morris, what can I say? I admit I don’t do a lot of research and don’t trust wikipedia if it told me Biden and your PM were best buds…
What makes you think that I wouldn’t have just as much trouble identifying seventy year old American cars? 😉
Cederq, when you think of Morris Minor, think Sprite.
They shared the same engine , drivetrain, suspension and brakes. My Dad actually had and raced an original Mini after his buddy blew up the engine in his Bugeye Sprite.
Although the Mini isn’t actually a good example. Front wheel drive añd twelve inch wheels. He had a Morris Minor too for a little while añd that is what I was thinking about. They are identical underneath to a Sprite.
Everyone here that’s old enough to remember seeing Pacific Intermountain Express trucks on the road raise their hands.
I’ll go first.
“…most wouldn’t know one Brit car from another.”
Yeah, but the Opel is German.
Budd, goes to show how much more redneck ignorant I is… I don’t drive or care for foreign cars except I will own early models of Toyota small pick ups. I drive Chevy, Ford and used to drive Dodges/Plymouths.
Thanks Budd, fixed it on the post and stated that… The car site I get old pics of trucks and cars stated it was a Morris Minor, what the hell I know, I was in Germany, Berlin but I didn’t pay any attention to the cars except VWs which I liked and have owned and wish I still owned.
I used to deliver new Detroit Diesel engines to the Marmon factory outside of Dallas. Denton, I believe… it was a long time ago.
Rekord, not Record. And that after you were provided the correct name too.
