Love that big black smoke belching activity. It will make a comeback after SHTF is over.
Big Boy No. 4014 is set to begin its first-ever coast-to-coast tour on Sunday, March 29, 2026, departing from its home base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and traveling west toward California.
Yes, it makes a stop in Ogden UT (right next door to me…) and then heads out East. I would dearly, DEARLY love to ride it to the East coast and baack, but I lack the money – a ticket will be in the thousands. Unfortunately.
The tour back East hinges upon the merger of UP and NS railroads, which is slated for a few months from now. We’ll see.
I saw that in the notification, sadly it said no passengers this trip. I saw it a few years ago, would like to see it again.
There are very few things that I love to watch on the interweb more than videos of the old steam engines … and the sounds … nothing quite like it.
Those at night with the ashes blowing up are awesome … but dangerous I suppose.
Could have included a few more American locos, almost all you included have bumpers rather than cowcatchers???
You haven’t been around much, when I did this weekly I had Brits, German, Turkish, Africa, India, Japanese, China, Korean, Aussie, etc… steam represented. Old steam iron is still old steam iron!
Dammit, I expected to see faces on the front of all of them. My kid watched too much Thomas the Tank Engine videos when he was young…
OUTSTANDING.
