Bout dammit
No kidding, just before clicking on this blog, I checked the length of RR flat cars tank cars, and box cars, and engines. Then went to IP webpage.
It turns out the train I saw yesterday was 2.4 miles long. Traveling at 63 mph thats a lot of joules.
UP says the avg (median?) length of a train is 6,900′ but sometimes up to just over 15,000′. Now that would be a sight.
Heh. Another model – at least that’s what Google tells me. I sure couldn’t tell; I was curious about what sort of truck was on that flat car.
That passenger train is what my earliest exposure to trains looks like – at least, what I can remember. I rode the Union Pacific as a kid, once, that I remember. I’m sure I thought it was an excellent adventure.
You mean the one that has a fuel tank marked “Flammable?” No, it was not a model. that is a Navy fueler. I got it off of a military equipment web site along with dozen or so pics. I have never seen an HO or N gauge model railways that extensively detailed.
Google lied to me? Heavens! I’ll just blame their new AI. 🙂 And, I’ll admit to having been fooled by photos of models too. The level of detail some of those modelers go to is just boggling.
I agree. Look at the “glad hands” on the cars on the second track. Those are the magnetic openers on Kadee brand couplers. Looks to me like this is a diorama that was photographed outdoors for the background effect.
