So that guy is actually holding the train back in the first pic?
Most cities had trolly’s back in the day. I worked a construction site downtown Okc that uncovered some of the old rails and bars from the old basement city jail.
You can thank Mr. Firestone of the tire industry and general motors for conspiring to replace all trollies with their chassis’s and tires. No doubt some large campaign contributions were made prior.

There is a great story tucked into Steinbeck’s East of Eden about first attempts to ship California produce east. The boxcar was NOT refrigerated, and shipping got waylaid on a siding for two weeks, in the hot Salinas sunshine. When they tried to open it up, no one could get near that boxcar without barfing.
