The trestle bridge site is near me but when I saw your pic I had never heard of it. So I looked it up, its been gone a long time but its still a neat thing.
# 16 derailment at Whipple Ohio on Marietta branch of PRR.
We have the names of all the section crew.
#20 Cleveland and Marietta railroad station at Whipple ,Ohio Later PRR Marietta branch.
Yes you cn hear a train that is miles away with you ear on the rail.
All I could hear was the car crossing, the THUMP-THUMP of the tires hitting the rails.
“I’d lay my head on the railroad tracks
A-waiting for the Double ‘E’
But the railroad don’t run no more
Poor, poor pitiful me”
Ole 40 in Nevada. The mercury in NYC.
The jeeps on train for transport was cool. Before Gulf 91 I had the good fortune to be driving through Lawton Oklahoma home of Ft. Sill where every troop goes for artillery training. There was a long train of flatbed cars just sitting on the tracks next to the highway across from the base with tanks on them far as the eye could see just like these jeeps. It just made me feel we are about to kick someones ass nice and hard. Doubt anyone will ever see something like that again.
Great collection if shots. Thanks
I wonder what was going on in the third one, with all the rifles.
I think the photo is from a movie.
