As an … “Elder Statesman” myself, this guy’s not wrong. Especially about all the stuff we have forgotten.
Now excuse me, them damn kids are out on the lawn again…..
A guy I worked with decades ago at a factory had come back from WWII and went to work for GE as a tool & die apprentice and worked for them for 20 something years. I was FORTUNATE enough to get to help him in our job shop occasionally and learned all sorts of stuff that helped me later in life working with machinery.
I resemble that. got to admit I get some good ideas from other old guys. We all have skill sets. Just different ones.
That’s a hard truth. I just pulled the plug on a career that ran damn near 50 years. and was still picking up stuff from the rookies right out of A&P school. Found the things they struggled with the most were troubleshooting & wiring diagrams. Gotta admit, it was a good thing to watch that lightbulb snap on in their head when they finally got it.
Quite a bit of knowledge has already disappeared sadly I had to watch some of it happen.
Glad I’m out
got run off for being old grey & in the way. some FNG would come up with a brilliant idea & i would inform that it was done at such a time by such a person & how it transpired, they’d do it again & it would flop. . . . but i had the bad attitude.
