Not the peeler, it removes apple core and cuts it into a coil like a spring that you can then cut if you like for smaller pieces (Apple Pie!)
I have two of them in my kitchen. Different pitches on the threads make thin or thick sliced apples. Trick is to guide the peeler with one hand while cranking with the other and keep the momentum up. Needs a firm cored apple; a soft or overripe one will mush out and just make a mess.
