  1. I see, so how does one know when you’re a roofer, carpenter, truck driver, mechanic or any of dozens of other professions I could name just off the top of my head?

I’ve seen volunteers at animal shelters that work harder than any nurse I’ve ever encountered.

Not trying to knock nurses, I know a few and they’re fine people but hardly high on the overworked spectrum.

    • Methinks CederQ would *highly* disagree with you.

heck, a LOT of nurses I know are overworked and underpaid. Healthcare CEOs, on the other hand, are WAY overpaid, period.

      • Nowhere in my comment do I claim there are no overworked or underpaid nurses, nor do I mention CEOs of any stripe.

It’s OK though, not the first time this messenger has been shot.

    • “I’ve seen volunteers at animal shelters that work harder than any nurse I’ve ever encountered.”

Where the hell are you encountering these nurses!? Well. There will always be degenerate losers in every field of work. Comes with the territory. And trust me, I’ve seen many of them. The ‘I’m just here for the paycheck’, the ‘only here till I find something easier’, the ‘C equals RN crowd’. I could tell you stories of incompetence with nurses and doctors that would curdle your blood. I always gave 200%, every minute of every shift. Working the ED during flu season was a testament of how long can you go without peeing, drinking or eating. Attending to patients lined up in the hallways, cause there are no rooms. And the cardiac unit? Life or death, every minute, of every hour, of every shift.

“hardly high on the overworked spectrum”
You know not of which you speak. Now go home, sit in a corner, and shut the actual fuck up. Still love you!

CederQ, I may be one of the few who actually understands that nurse meme, having done night shift most of my career.

      • First you say this: “Where the hell are you encountering these nurses!?”, the implication being that the nurse I describe does not exist, then you immediately relate that you’ve seen many, perhaps worse than I have experience with.

So, I suppose I’m encountering them at the same places you do.

It’s a meme, can I get you a teddy bear?
