  1. I knew this. If I want bugs in the spring (which I normally don’t) I leave the leaves on the ground until Spring after the snowmelt.

  2. also leaf mulch. we never rake ours until spring. to rake leaves in the fall is an exercise in futility.

  3. Did you know, every life-form on earth is carbon-based ? I feel like handing an axe to every fucking green-earther so they can cut their carbon footprint in half.

  5. I stopped raking a few years back and just mulch as the leaves pile up. Yard is doing fine and the holes that armadillos keep digging around the yard attests to the amount of bugs underneath. Gulf coast where there is never a lack of bugs

  6. I live up North. I have a lawn. Green grass. If I leave the leaves on all winter, they will kill the green grass. Big brown spots everywhere that won’t fill in even through 2 consec. summers.
