  2. It’s not just the south. The Baptist church potlucks here are dyn-o-mite! The deserts alone are three tables long.
    Waiting near the end of the line, the pastor and I agreed that we like to go last so that we can make total pigs of ourselves and nobody else cares.

  3. Oh man, could I do with a trip to that buffet line tonight for dinner. Hot damn that looks good.

  4. We had Trunk-or-Treat last night, with a chili cook-off for added measure.

  5. @CederQ … Jewish cooking is the same sorta thing … there’s food for the body, and then there’s food for the SOUL. (/heads to the deli for a double thick pastrami sammich on marble rye with a spot of spicy brown mustard).

        There are no fewer the FOUR delis within a 20-minute drive from my house where I can get such a sammich.

  6. We had these at my granny’s church every third Sunday of the month. We very, very seldom missed them and all of the family children, cousins, such, got together to get to know each other. Something that doesn’t happen with families today … kinda sad.
