Never, EVER, Piss Off Your Mechanic

Red Loctite on the spark plug threads and then hammer them home with an impact gun?

Those plugs will be in there just like they were part of the original casting process.

  1. Grandpa told me “never piss of your banker, the sheriff or the guy that drives the snowplow”. Now I have another one to add to the list. –ken

    • In my Navy days it was “Never piss off your Disbursing Clerk, your Corpsman, or your Parachute Rigger.”
Unless you didn’t care about being paid, starting your immunizations all over or minded being extremely uncomfortable your whole flight.

  2. Damn! Remind me to never piss off a mechanic they (he or she) ,might also do that to the lug nuts……………. Oh, never mind,. I am my own mechanic……..

  3. That’s why I just do my own. I don’t have to worry about someone doing something like that.

    • Yeah, but I’m human and have screwed up badly several times. No loss of life, thank goodness!

  4. Hell , most modern fords have a problem with the spark plugs welding themselves in.

    • I’ve gotten pretty good with getting the engine warm, then spraying copious amounts of PB Blaster on the plugs and letting it sit for a bit before I try to work them out back and forth for awhile. I buy anti-seize in the tub these days too. Every stinking time I go to change the plugs in a rig for the first time they are absolutely stuck to the heads.

  5. Years ago I worked with a guy who took no bull from customers. If someone gave him a bag of shit he would smile and say I’ll pull your car around for you. He would then get their keys, look for a possible house key, and head for the grinder to shave off a tooth or two. Usually these were folks from far away.

    • I’ve had my house keys on a separate ring, all of which are on a small carabiner, for decades. I take them off the ‘biner when I turn the vehicle over to the service advisor or mechanic.

  6. I use high strength red loc-tite on scope rings and mounts. Tip of a soldering iron on the screw for 30-40 seconds and it comes loose every time….
