Does anyone even have one of these in their rig anymore?
Does anyone under 25 even know what it is and what it’s for?

It’s a tool to change your sex from male to female.
Have one and an ashtray in the MGB. Both get used.
Jeez!!!! It’s a fucking Cigarette Lighter that came as standard equipment on all Detroit cars and Trucks!!!!…. from back before your GREAT GRANDMOTHER was BORN!!! Got that!! ??????
skybill
Yep got 2 . They read Eject bottom. I tell people not to press under any circumstances. Spellcheck almost got me on eject. That Viagra thing
That’s what we used to heat hashish so we could ‘cream’ it into tobacco to roll a ‘canuto’. All of my vehicles have them but none of them get used. I miss wing windows. None of my vehicles have them.
That’s what I used to smoke hashish. It was the very best method
I’m struggling to remember when I last owned a car with an ashtray. My current ride has 3 “power outlets”, which is actually convenient for me, since I have uses for 12VDC. I think my Volvo had a lighter – if so, that’d be the last one – IIRC, it was broken, so I really don’t know when I last had a car with a working lighter.
I agree with maga99203 – bring back wing windows!
My F-250 has one. It is an ’87 by the way.
And not to flex too hard; but it also has wing windows, and a slider you can reach without stretching.

My F250 has one too (it’s an ’08), and just recently my wife was having a fit trying to locate her Bic, so I popped it on and handed it to her when it got that cheerful glow.
Now if only it was a manual transmission instead of that damn computer controlled automatic.
My ’74, F-350 has wing windows, lighter, ash tray, rear sliding window, a 460 AND gets 4 1/2 to 6 mpg, downhill straight away with a tail wind and the engine turned off.
My ’86 Toyota 1 ton (1st gen) has wing windows, lighter, ash tray AND a 5 speed stick. If I keep it to 65 mph, it gets 30-32 mpg. 70 plus drops me to 28-25 mpg. LOW MAINTENANCE!
My plush ’03 Hyundai, Elantra has cloth seats, a lighter, ash tray AND AC. Mpg, 24-32. It sucks gas at 80+, but hums doing it.
My wifes, sub 100,000 mile, ’95 Buick, Roadmaster, with LS1, gets 17-21 mpg hauls ass and is to die for.
Well, hey – my Beaver Motor Coach gets 4-1/2 MPG, so I travel in *style*. Yes, it’ll do 80. And, I can take it ALL with me! Even the Internet, as I have Starlink…
OH!! You destroyer of contentment and happiness! Creator of envy!
You might kick that fuel mileage up to 6 mpg with the “downhill straight away with a tail wind and the engine turned off” method of driving. There’s a couple of minor flaws in the technique, but it works for me. Of course I’m retarded, so that helps. YMMV…heh.
For fuel economy, one word:
Megasquirt.
I have to get mine on the T-Bird so I can start making some progress on it. Actually, mine is an AMP MicroSquirt – same difference, just premade and a few less features.

I just realized I haven’t done a Ford post with you in mind, when I get back I am gonna look into that. What do you think of the Ford Police Interceptor SUV, AWD with the 3.7 L engine and 6 speed tranny with 155,000 miles for $5500? One is being sold locally and I am looking hard at it.
Tree, would that Toyota be a T100?
No, it’s pre T-100, Tacoma and everything else. They were just called “Toyota pickup”. The official name is/was Hilux.
Mine is a 5% truck. Only 5% of trucks got fuel injection that year. Low maintenance! It still has the original air mass sensor! I guess it hadn’t been decided to make them with built in obsolescence, yet.
My 95 F250 has all that, but the slider in the rear window is a bit of a stretch with the extended cab.
Makes me want to start smoking again.
Those are used to sear the eyes shut after being inveigled into looking at photographs of naked fat women.
My vehicle (I was going to specify the model but thought better of it) has two receptacles for them in the center console, but they’re empty. I use one as a power source for a charger for my phone. The charger fits in the receptacle and changes 12VDC to 5VDC which is the voltage my phone uses when charging. No wing windows.
Those outlets won’t work for a lighter. They are the same diameter and a lighter will fit, but they don’t have the little nub in the center which makes contact with the center of the lighter……
Not that I didn’t believe you, however I went to the garage to check on the nub as I sort of remembered a silver protrusion on the charger adapter. There is a nub. However, there is also a non-conductive ring that would prevent a cigar/cigarette lighter from making contact with nub defeating the the ability of the light from making contact with the nub. Also, the outlets are almost entirely plastic, except for the conductive elements, which would probably melt from the heat generated by a lighter, thus the non-conductive safety ring.
Also a great way to light fireworks and, in a pinch. Estes rockets.
Been there.
Yeah, that is a psycho chick branding iron.
It’s for ensuring no more fingerprints
Out of the four vehicles we own, 2014 Charger R/T, 2017 Lezbaru Crosstrek,
2003 Exploder and a 1974 Nova, only the Nova has one and it even works.
Eric.
I remember.
That thing is for burning cool rings into grandpa’s Olds 98 vinyl seats.
Oddly, he did not agree.
They are now 12V “power ports”. DON’T try to take an old-style cigarette lighter and plug it into them, as most of these are fused at 15 amps.
Technology marches on!
It’s a learning moment for a curious child

Excellent torture device, used it many times….
