A small country store run by old Bill in his retirement had the coldest beers in the county. He kept them in old fashioned ice boxes. It was sheer delight after a hard day work to amble across the wood plank floor to open up those massive oak framed ice boxes at the back. It was like tradition to men far and wide. Bill held the working man in great esteem. Treated me like a son, I think everyone else too.
Bill really cared for his customers. Just as often the talk turned to guns n ammo. Over a cold one, Bill would likely pull out an ancient iron in exquisite condition to talk about the finer points of this rifle or that caliber.
Anyway, about that cold beer.
The best beer I’ve ever had was after a hard day roofing in August.
