  1. Well, it is the single greatest invention ever made by the US Army. I fondly recall getting one in every meal package of C Rations. No, I’m not that old. Dad was a National Guard Officer, and brought back a few cases from summer camp at Fort Lewis. My brother and I had a wonderful time working our way through all of them, the little packs of four cigarettes as well.

  2. P38… still have the one I got at boot camp in 74… never leave home without it.

    • I’ve also had mine on my keychain since 74. Maybe 73, can’t remember. Got a pack of P-50’s and have been passing them out to family. Little easier to use, but my old ’38 just gets better with age.

      • I’ve had one in my wallet since ’68 – they came in those Civil Defense barrels to open the cans.

Had a security guy at the airport make me take it out of my wallet – he looked at it, admired it, said he wishes he ad one, and handed it back to me.

Whew! Close call. He was an older guy.

  3. Still have 2 of em from my time with the USN in the early 70’s. They are as good as rabbit foot talismans if not better. đŸ˜‰

  4. I’ve had one forever. Dad used to throw C-rations in the truck to go camping. If you didn’t have a P38, you went hungry.

Still have 15 or 20 still in the wrapper.

    • You willing to sell one to me? Get with CederQ if’n ya need to contact me directly. I could use one more.

  5. Modern Art? Bite your tongue! Its not ugly, degenerate, or disgusting. How could it be Modern Art, you tasteless, disrespectful bastid?

A Chagall or Rothko: now that’s genius painting! A Libeskind or a Gehry: that’s genius architecture! A Schoenberg: that’s genius music. Everything else is just monkeys flinging their shit. Get your head straight, man!

  6. Fun fact: The end is just the right size to fit the butt screw of the M16A1 rifle.

  7. The style reminds me a bit of Ansel Adams, or maybe MC Escher. Damned. Good. Art.

  8. We called the John Waynes, when I was in the Marines in 83. Still carry mine đŸ˜‰

  9. I have one of those on my everyday keychain…ya’ never know when you’ll need it. Learned to use one back in the USMC a LONG, LONG time ago. As to the “art”…um, yeah, I’d hang that in my man cave, but my wife wouldn’t understand it.

  10. I keep one in the kitchen drawer comes in handy when the wheel can opener skips a spot.

  11. Have been missing my old P 38 for a very long time. Bought a few P 51 and stashed them everywhere. I found my old P38 eight on an old key ring The other day was very happy.
