i have always told people close to me that if i die to make sure that my dogs see me. dogs understand death and i would never wan’t them to think that i abandoned them.
That’s discussed policy at this home. We’ve got 4 dogs, it matters to us.

Had a dog as a kid back in the 60s that was getting old and had issues. Old boy just wondered off to die. Or its possible Pops put him out of his misery. Life’s secrets.
When one of my cats dies, we leave the corpse “lying in state” on a blanket for a day. They sniff it and go about their day. They. Just. Don’t. Care.
