Trump makes bank every time he personally (and frequently) grants an exemption for product A or commodity B. How? A generous ‘investment’ into one of his crypto businesses or contribution to one of his PACs.
Americans don’t pay the tax the foreign countries do and it goes into goobermint coffers. The penalty is paid when the domestic producers raise their price to just below the foreign tariffed priced and we get screwed, that’s why I always call tariffs a tax on the people. Your type of goobermint people should have tariffed immediately the things the foreigners tariff on us to cut that shit out.
Wrong! Neither you nor Trump know how tariffs work. The exporting country does not pay the tax. No money flows from the exporting country to the US unless its a bribe to Trump. The foreign country may be hurt by selling us less stuff.
The importing company pays the tax; eg Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, etc.. They may or may or raise the price of goods sold the full amount of the tariff. Some like Costco have already filed lawsuits to get a refund for the tariffs they paid.
Most of the tariff is passed on to the consumer. Best estimate for the Trump tariffs is that 90% paid by consumers and 10% eaten by some wholesalers and retailers who tried to keep prices from rising too much.
He knew it might be coming and they already had a work-around ready.
